About Us

The Smart Cities Academy is powered by the Smart Cities Council, the world's longest running dedicated body to the smart cities movement.

Since 2014 the Council has been creating smart cities education content and delivering both in-person and online education programs.

The Academy is now a centralised platform for all the Council's education and knowledge exchange opportunities.

The Academy allow's policy makers and practitioners to be recognised for their knowledge and their effort in advancing the role that technology and data play's in generating economic, social and environmental value for our communities.


The Academy is underpinned by a certificate-based professional development program to help participants build their knowledge and skills in smart cities and supporting agenda's.


Participants have the option to receive a first-of-its-kind credential - the Smart Cities Practitioner Certificate - as part of the Foundation education modules.


This program is built from more than eight years of global experience in supporting government advance smart cities projects through the creation of knowledge resources, facilitating best practice learning sessions and extensive stakeholder engagement.


Academy modules will be launched on an ongoing basis, providing practitioners with fresh and relevant content on an ongoing basis.
